
The apartment represents a bold departure from normal interiors a change in taste as well as style in living. The Cordoba flat reflects the designer’s fascination for the individual. Using a series of undulating forms, he has created a dramatic and highly personal “urban perch” for his home.
“Interiors in the 80’s need never be austere to be correct”. To prove that points, he has used stunning, yet sensuous architectural and interior forms his condo apartment. The interiors have a vibrant, kinetic quality, free form shapes, highlighted by color. The designer says that the living and dining areas as well as the den combine a working and entertaining function. Both functional and elegant, it provides a superb setting for glamorous parties. Form the entrance hall, defined by treated mirror walls, through the living area, the flat is alive.
The designer experiences a powerful sense of communion with these acquisitions which include a solid Italian marble horse bust and the 10-foot Capes tree in the living room. The bronze crane is Thai. Some of these pieces typify the emphasis designer palaces on the use of luxurious but readily available materials.
The entrance hall is sparked by the dark mirrors. Mirror treated walls by the entrances create witty illusions. They increase the visual dimensions of the small dining area. It also opens up into the living room, thereby enlarging it. The use of different hues of marble for flooring has resulted in a pattern that gives the living area a visual effect of length.
